Cottesmore surrendered a first half lead to plunge to defeat against impressive Blaby and Whetstone on Saturday.
Jim Foreman scored against the run of play to put Amateurs ahead midway through the first half.

But strong spells of pressure for the visitors were rewarded with two goals in the final quarter of the match.

Steve Duffy, Cottesmore's joint-manager, had no complaints with the result.

He said: "They deserved to win. They were the better side on the day.

"We matched them for effort but they were fitter than us and were probably the best team we have played so far this season."

It all looked so good for Amateurs when Foreman broke the deadlock, latching on to a long kick by his goalkeeper Alex Brown and lobbing the visiting custodian.

Cottesmore were looking for their first win of the league campaign and they may have got it had the referee ruled a challenge on John Morton was worthy of a penalty instead of waving away home claims.

Nick Buff also appeared to be tripped in the box in the second half but again no spot kick resulted from it.

Blaby drew level with 25 minutes left and grabbed the winner 10 minutes later.

Amateurs will be without five regulars for Saturday's trip to Birstall.

Goalkeeper Alex Brown has this week gone to play in Brazil while midfielder Eddie McDonald has returned to university.

Duffy added: "With Alex gone we will have to play our reserves goalkeeper Lee Pilkington or Nick Buff can play in goal if we need him."

Cottesmore were due to host Bourne Red Lion last night (Wednesday) in the Ancaster Cup.
Amateurs: A Brown, S Baines, Bomken, Quinn, Moore, Morton, Whyley, Duncan, E McDonald, Bates, Foreman.
Subs – Buff, Morris, Pilkington, Bryden, Ash, Easson.
