Amazingly this game was goal-less at half-time before the proverbial floodgates opened in the second half.
Rangers had battered their lowly hosts in that first 45 minutes but the ball just would not go in.

The visitors regrouped at half-time before the goals started to flow.

Peterborough Sports' stubborn resistance was finally broken early in the second half from a corner, the ball dropping for Jamie Saddington to rifle home on the half-volley.

When Michael Nelson doubled his team's advantage six minutes later the contest was as good as over.

Sports had conceded an average of more than five goals a game before kick-off and this match soon became another turkey shoot.

The Peterborough outfit had no answer as shots rained in from all angles.

Nelson scored again and there were also braces for Robbie Pearce and Jamie Forbes, with substitute Ben Jones weighing in with a goal of his own.

Manager Andy Saddington said: "In the first half we had all the possession and all the chances but we just couldn't put the ball in the net.

"It kept going wide, over the bar or against the post.

"I said to the lads at half-time 'I don't mind if you score five, 10 or just the one goal as long as we win the match'.

"As soon as we got the first goal they were happy and we started putting our chances away."

After AFC Fletton were held 2-2 at Leverington Sports just one point separates the top three in the Peterborough League premier divison with Rangers in third spot.

The Rutlanders can go top on Saturday if they beat Leverington Sports at home, with Fletton and Ramsey both in cup action.

Rangers: George, Dalby, Bain, Saddington, Flavell, Hollingworth (Jones), R Nelson, Forbes, Pearce, M Nelson, Lambie (Wood).
