Rutland Rangers were so delighted with the success of their first five-a-side tournament, they have pledged to hold it again next year.
Among the 20 teams taking part at Greetham were The White Horse Morcott - the eventual winners - the Griff Inn, Oakham, a side from Ketton and four teams made up of players from the hosts.

The others included representatives from the Grantham and Peterborough leagues.

After four mini league competitions of five teams and a quarter final, the semi-finals were contested by Griff Inn, who lost to the White Horse, and a team from Ancaster, who beat FC Shabbah from Grantham.

Rutland Rangers first team manager Andy Saddington said the event was a big success and plans were already being made for a bigger and better event next year.

He said: "This was the first time we had organised this type of event and we were delighted with the amount of money raised for club funds.

The oraganisation went smoothly and all the teams enjoyed taking part.

We are grateful to committee members and family and friends who helped on the day and especially to the four referees who did a great job, Steve Hall, Adam Bailey, Alistair Forbes and Fez Brotherton.
