OAKHAM Imps boss Karl Seagrave is one of several managers in Rutland hoping football matches will finally resume this weekend.
The Leicester & District Division Two side haven't even been able to train since before Christmas and haven't played since an abandoned game on December 12.

Seagrave was due to put his side through their paces on Wednesday and said: "Hopefully the
lads would have done as much fitness work as they can under their own initiative.

"The only good thing about the break is that it has given a few of the players a chance to get over any minor injuries.

"It will be important to get a good result on Saturday when we take on fellow promotion challengers Newbold Verdon.

"They haven't played since the 12th as well, so I expect we will both be a bit rusty.

"The players are raring to go and as we have a 100 per cent home record I an expecting a good performance.

"We've scored in every game we've played so far this season so I have no concerns in that department. The key to a positive result will be how well we defend as a team."

Saturday's fixtures:
Alconbury v Rutland Rangers 1.30pm
Uppingham v Whittlesey 1.30
Peterborough Sports v Ketton
Cottesmore Amateurs v Stapenhill 3pm
Oakham v Newbold Verdon 2pm
