UPPINGHAM Town extended their winning run to four in the league and five in all competitions with a 4-0 thrashing of Crowland Town on Saturday.
Town's current league form is the best in the Peterborough and District League Premier Division, in stark contrast to Saturday's opposition who have not won a match in 15 attempts, but it wasn't the prettiest performance this season.

Town boss Ric
hard Kendrick said afterwards: "Conditions were difficult for both sides and it was an awful game of football.

"We have played better and lost games and I don't mind playing bad and winning. But we won't win much if we keep playing like that."

On Saturday Uppingham play Coates Athletic, who beat Town 7-2 earlier in the season, and the Town boss : "We will have to step our game up on Saturday."

Town's recent form has lifted them away from the danger zone to mid table and a key contribution has come from Dave Laughton, who scored twice on Saturday.

Laughton is now the league's sixth top scorer with 10 goals so far this season.

Will Thomas opened the scoring midway through the first half, glaning in a header at a corner.

Town hit the cross bar and had claims for a second turned down because the referee felt the ball hadn't crossed the line.

"Even though we hadn't played well we could have been three up," said Kendrick.

Martin Turiccki added a second 10 minutes into the second half, finishing off a fine solo run, before Laughton sealed the win with his two strikes.

Uppingham are waiting to hear who they will meet in the semi-final of the cup. The draw will be made on February 16 with Rutland Rangers also in the draw.

Kendrick said: "I was pleased with the points this week but we are building to a big semi-final when we will need to be at the top of our game."
