Will Stuart-Jones hit a superb half-century to help Oakham defeat reigning champions Long Sutton at the Lime Kilns on Saturday.
On a hot, sunny afternoon, Oakham won the toss and chose to field.

Cristian Durant was again acting skipper with Chris Larsen unavailable. James Pepperdine and Jamie Hart bowled a tight line and length, completing 24 overs between them without a break and restricting Long Sutton to below three runs an over.

Rory Brown continued where the openers left off, bowling with good control but no luck. But, unfortunately, some inconsistent bowling by the back-up bowlers allowed Long Sutton to post 179 all out in 43 overs.

Oakham started in positive fashion with Stuart-Jones (56) being particularly severe on the young Long Sutton attack.

In tandem with Cristian Durant he put on 100 in the first 12 overs before Oakham lost both openers in quick succession. A period of consolidation was needed at that point. Juan Drotski played in positive fashion hitting a big six in his 33, bringing Oakham closer to victory.

Contributions from Sam Wills, Johnny Weber, Paul Haynes and Paul Roebuck ensured Oakham reached their target with 12 overs remaining, completing an impressive 20-point victory.

This weekend, Oakham take on another of last year's title contenders, Billngborough, at the Lime Kilns looking to make it three wins in succession.

Grantham and Boston marched on unbeaten at the top of Division 1 after victories over Woodhall Spa and Ramblers, respectively.

Boston recorded the highest score of the day, making 287, Alan Mountford hitting 118 and Jonathan Cheer and Tom Baxter making 78 and 67. Mick Troops then took 5-24 as the Lindum side were all out for 158.

In a much lower scoring affair at Jubilee Park, Woodhall could reach only 127, a total Grantham overtook for the loss of three wickets.

Almost 450 runs were scored at Bourne, where Chris Dring hit 61 of the home side's 222-9, a total the visitors overtook for the loss of five wickets, Dave Newman making 74.

At Outgang Road, Market Deeping failed by 14 runs to reach Caythorpe's score of 155, of which Jamie Redmile hit 58. On Sunday, Tim Jack hit 68 as Belton Park reached 195 before bowling out Sleaford for 139.
