The best limit of the week at Rutland Water fell to Gary Cooper of Empingham.

Gary was fishing the Tuesday Night Boat League and weighed in an impressive 21lb 8½oz bag – eight fish in less than three hours. Included in Gary’s bag was the best fish of the night, a Rainbow of exactly 5lb.

Gary’s catch was well ahead of his son Richard who took second place with six fish for 13lb 1oz.

Seaton’s Snatchers took on EFFA and won a close match, weighing in 67 fish at 154lb¼oz against EFFA’s 64 fish for 140lb 13½oz.

Most fish came from the aerators in the main basin. Sinking lines and mini lures fished on sinking lines were the most successful methods. Ian Peberdy fishing for EFFA was top rod with eight fish for 20lb 14½oz. Ian also had the best fish at 5lb exactly. The match fished to a rod average of 3.85.

The best fish of the week was a 6lb 4oz Brown taken by Matt Cockin, of Cambridge.Paul Friend, of Edith Weston netted the best rainbow of the week, a mint condition specimen of 5lb 13½oz.
