Ketton showed great spirit to fight back from 2-0 down against Peterborough ICA Sports to send their PFA Senior Cup game on Saturday to a spot kick showdown.

However after finishing level at 2-2 in the end it was all to no avail as the visitors to Pit Lane won the penalty battle 4-3.

Ketton had drawn 0-0 with the same opponents a week earlier when they meet in the PDFL Premier Division but they knew this game had to have a winner.

Ketton were unfortunate to be trailing at the break having played the better football but Nathan Horne struck twice for the visitors to make it a long way back for the Rutland side.

However 20 minutes into the second half Jack Speechley headed in a cross from Lewis Morley to give them hope.

Ketton looked the side with likely with Alex Sismore and Odie Wasson going close before Ben Waldron had a goal scrubbed off for a handball in the build up. In the 89th minute Ketton finally breached the defence when James Cracknell volleyed in.

That sent the game straight to penalties.

Ketton took the lead in the shoot-out through Matt Woodman and then goalkeeper Dan Swan pulled off a save to give his side the advantage.

However Andy Gray, on as a substitute had his shot saved and Peterborough levelled. Ian Marsh and Sismore were successful with their spot kicks but the visitors kept pace with them.

With the pressure on Matt Lawrence put his penalty over the bar allowing ICA to steal the win with their fourth successful effort.

Ketton: Dan Swan, Matt Woodman, Seb Hood, Johnny Holmes, Odie Wasson (Andy Gray), Lewis Morley, Ian Marsh, Jack Speechley (James Cracknell), Matt Lawrence, James Farrell (Ben Waldron), Alex Sismore.
