Deeping Rangers were beaten 3-1 in their UCL Premier Division derby at Holbeach United on Wednesday night, with their opponents climbing to second place in the table.
Two goals in two minutes in the first half at Carters Park essentially settled the tie.
Jordan Thomas opened the scoring in the 18th minute after he latched onto a ball from Andy Tidswell to get behind the defence and fire across keeper Danny Bircham.
Tidswell then earned his second assist of the match, playing in Jake Clitheroe to make it 2-0 in a flash.
Holbeach were on top and after the break Deeping keeper Danny Bircham saved well from Thomas.
With nine minutes to go Deeping were given a faint hope of getting back into the game when a jinking run from Scott Coupland saw him pull the ball back for Jezz Goldson-Williams to fire home.
But that hope was extinguished just three minutes later when Jack Cotton had a Steven Gerrard moment, slipping to allow Clitheroe in fire a low shot into the corner.
Rangers almost pulled a goal back in injury time but skipper David Burton-Jones had his header from a corner deflected the ball to safety.
