On Sunday Bourne Town Harriers took a squad to the second Lincolnshire Cross Country League event of the season held in Boston.

Although the weather was a little kinder than the previous wet day, the athletes still had to deal with very difficult underfoot conditions and the notorious water hazard.

The first race of the day was the mixed under 11s event. Ben Conrathe and Talullah Spurdens continued their personal battle from the previous day with Ben finishing in 11th position with Talullah in 19th. Holly Griffin was 41st, Isabella Welsh 44th and Lucy Colman 46th.

The girls u13 race saw strong performances from Elin James who finished in 3rd place and the ever-improving Grace Tidman who battled to 19th position. There were equally strong performances from Matthew Colman and Ben Moss who finished in 6th and 14th places respectively.

The sole Harrier in the girls under 15 race was Abi Cooper who did not disappoint. She finished in 3rd place. Molly Bennett was 7th in the ladies’ under 17 race.

Cameron Everist was back to his absolute best by convincingly winning the men’s u17 race.

Steven Sheppard was 7th in the men’s senior race. He was followed by veteran Roy James who finished in 62nd on his league debut.

Bourne-based Grantham AC runner Aaron Hunt finished 2nd in the under 15s boys. In the under 17 Women’s race Stamford school pupil Holly Youles came 4th, with Saskia Hunt 5th. In the junior/senior/veteran men’s race Chris Hunt finished 51st.
