The Petanque season finished with the Cup and Plate Finals last Thursday at Oakham Rugby Club.

Rutland Panthers completed the double, winning both the Rutland & District Premier League and the Cup.

The Black Horse Grimston may have lost this time, but will be promoted to the Premier Division as League One Champions

In the Turner Plate, The Rose & Crown, from Houghton on the Hill, beat the Belton Braces, but they will have the chance to play each other again in the second division, although the Rose & Crown hope to bounce straight back up to Division One.

There are fifty teams playing in five divisions of the Rutland & District Petanque league every Tuesday evening across the summer months.

It is one of the few sports where both sexes and all ages can play together.
