OAKHAM’S men went down to a heavy 27 shot loss at Keyworth on Thursday.

The only highlight for Oakham was a victory on the rink skipped by Alan Jones, who also qualified for entry to the Hot Shots Club, by taking all eight available shots on one end.

Results: Gwyn Davies, Jack Pearce, Ray Gregory and Alan Jones won 22-18; Barrie Payne, Robin Sims, Bob Hammond and Ron Smurthwaite. lost 16-18; Brian Garner, Bill Stewart, Bob Swarbrick and Ivan Lang lost 20-25; Lin Walters, John Moore, Norman Coville and Chris Wallis lost 12-23; Nigel Trigg, Terry Thurman, Gail Robertson, Denis Smith lost 14-27.

Oakham 67 Knighton Victoria 60

Oakham had a comfortable seven shot win against Knighton Victoria on Saturday afternoon, winning on two of the three rinks.

The two winning skips were Chris Wallis and Bob Hammond.

Results: Lin Walters, Les Wright, Bob Swarbrick and Chris Wallis won 31-17;

Richard Ward, Dave Hillier, Gail Robertson and Bob Hammond won 24-21; Nigel Trigg, Peter Ferry, Barrie Payne and Ron Smurthwaite lost 12-22.

Oakham 47 Holwell 62

OAKHAM’S Sunday team put up a brave fight against Holwell, managing a draw on one of three rinks, and losing the match by 15 shots.

Results: Liz Pollard, Rod Groombridge, Mike Timms and Beryl Birch drew 15-15; Anne Knight, Juliet Healey, Roger Rowlands and Ros Carter lost 16-27; David Morgan, Kath Rowlands, Pam Houlden and Di Culshaw lost 16-20.
