HARRINGWORTH: For many years the stone marking the place where Fanny Maria Blaydes was killed in 1884 has been lost to view by encroaching vegetation.
Two public spirited villagers have spent several hours clearing away the vegetation to expose the stone.
Although Fanny Maria, daughter of Sir EH Page Turner and wife to the Rev Blaydes of Harringworth is buried in the churchyard, a stone was plac
ed in the verge of the Gretton to Harringworth road marking the place where she was killed.
Fanny's carriage overturned on the sharp bend on August 21, 1884 when she was aged 64. The stone is carved with her initials and date.
Retirees Picnic The Harringworth Retirees Picnic due to take place at Jasmine cottage on Tuesday August 19 but unfortunately had to be cancelled due to wet weather.
