Tonight's free acoustic music evening at the Oak Inn features the first public sighting of local punk folksters, Lying Scotsman with their new lineup. The evening will be the usual mix of traditional folk, contemporary songs, original material, sing-

RamblersSunday's May 31, walk takes in Easton, The Warren, and Stamford, led by Lyn Darwin. To arrange to meet direct at the start of the walk, please call David Close (01780 444045). Otherwise, join everyone outside Collyweston Village Hall in the High Street at 1.30pm. Walks are generally 5-6 miles, undertaken at your own risk, and are open to anybody whether living in Collyweston or not.
BarbecueThe Pantomime Players invite you to a barbecue on Sunday, May 31, at the village hall, from 4.30pm. Admission £5, and you are welcome to take your own drinks.
History of canalsThe canals of England and Wales, in words and song, is the fascinating topic at the next meeting of Collyweston Historical and Preservation Society (CHAPS), at 7.30pm on Monday,June 1, at the village hall. Admission for non-members £3 and everyone is welcome.
Village shopAn open evening will be held in the village hall, from 7.30pm on Wednesday June 3, when you can find out the results of the village-wide survey, and how far plans have progressed. Admission free, all welcome to attend and have your say.
Village feteFor a whole day of family fun, why not go along from midday, on Saturday, June 6, to the Hermitage, halfway down the High Street, for Collyweston village fete! There is a barbecue, bar, cakes and teas, and traditional village games at which to try your hand. All proceeds to Collyweston church.
Calling young peopleYoungsters aged 7-14, are needed with their ideas. Please grab an adult and get yourself along to the village hall at 4pm on Saturday June 20, to say what things you would like to see improved or added to the playing field in the future. Adults are needed for legal reasons – but they will be made to sit quietly at the back while the youngsters have their say. Your input will directly influence what goes into the next bid for grant funding to pay for new equipment for the playing field, so don't hold back!
Village hallThe committee that runs the hall has its annual general meeting at 7.30pm on Wednesday June 24, and you are welcome to attend and have your say.
