Barrowden fete drew hundreds of people to the quintessentially English village green on a fine sunny day and raised thousands of pounds that will be benefit the community.
There was plenty for everyone to enjoy throughout the day from stalls selling bric a brac and home made cakes and jams, jazz played by the Uppingham Big Band and a fly past by a Dakota.

The entertaining fun dog show included about 20 pooches each
strutting their stuff and competing for a range of prizes from dog with the waggiest tail to dog most like its owner.

A black labrador named Coco, owned by Andrea and Mal Philpott was judged best in show.

Encouraged by the fine weather and entertainment people stayed longer and at 4.24pm all eyes went to the skies for a fly past by a magnificent Dakota from the Battle of Britain Flight. More than 100 people also attended an evening fish and chip supper.

Steve Preston, chair of St Peter's fete committee, said: "Everyone said what a successful day it was and a good evening. Our thanks go to the stall holders and everyone who turned up."

The church committee is still counting the cash raised, but early indications are it is at least £2,000. It will benefit not only St Peter's Church but also Macmillan Cancer Support, the NSPCC and Barrowden Toddler group, Barrowden Youth Group and Barrowden Tree Group.
