Plans are well advanced for a celebration of rural life at Little Casterton.
A priority for the organisers of the Little Casterton Working Weekend is to make the event different and this will be achieved this year by bringing together two of the oldest working combine harvesters.
It will mean a return to Little Casterton
of the 1926 Holt combine alongside a Case machine of similar age and design.
Both will be hauled by suitable period tractors.
To complement the Case combine, as much pre-1950 Case equipment as is possible will be gathered together.
This will include a baler, a thresher and of course Case tractors with appropriate implements.
Also just that little bit different, there will be a muck spreading demonstration.
The cultivating and ploughing area will include working demonstrations by interesting early tractors, and the crawler section will see Allis-Chalmers, Caterpillars, Cletracs and Internationals, plus others in action.
There will be the usual display of stationary engines, and living vans, also a show of historic vehicles present by the locally based 20-49 Motor Club.
For the steam enthusiast there will be a plouging set and steam power in the threshing section.
Throughout the weekend the famous homemade refreshments will be served and on Sunday a field service will be held.
It is also hoped there will again be a flying visit by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. All proceeds will go to the 12th century Church of All Saints, Little Casterton.
The event takes place on September 20 from 1pm and September 21 from 10am.
