Historian Philippa Massey will give a talk on the Stamford Mercury archives next week.

Philippa, the chairman of the Stamford Mercury Archive Trust, will examine how the paper, which dates back to the 1700s, reported on international and national news, local events and people during the Napoleonic Wars and the Regency.

The archive trust cares for the collection of Mercury editions, which is complete for more than two-and-a-quarter centuries.

The talk will take place at Stamford Arts Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 17. Tickets for reserved seating can be bought for £5 (£4.50 concessions) from the arts centre box office in person or on 01780 763203.

The trust allows public access to the Mercury archive. E-mail enquiries@smarchive.org.uk.
