A man was hit in the head with a crow bar as he walked through Uppingham.
The 54-year-old was on his way to work and was walking along Branston Road at about 6.40am on Wednesday. As he approached the junction of Queens Road he was struck the back of his head with a metal object.
The suspect was seen placing a crow bar inside his coat before walking off back in the direction of Cottesmore Road. Nothing was stolen during the incident.
The suspect has been described as a white man, in his 40s, about 5ft 8in tall. He was wearing a dark tracksuit bottom, top and cap.
PC 4266 Shaheen Hovell is investigating the incident. She said: “The victim sustained a cut to his head and was treated at Peterborough Hospital. Luckily his injuries weren’t serious and he was discharged after treatment.
“If you witnessed it or saw a man fitting the description of the suspect in this area that morning then we need to speak to you.
“Also if you recognise the suspect’s description or believe you may know who he is then please contact us.”
