Large crowds are expected to descend on Ketton tomorrow (Friday) for the annual Sport Bash, which will see a team of former international sports stars taking on local club players in a charity T20 cricket match.

With warm weather forecast along with some cracking entertainment, organiser Dean Headley said they were expecting a fantastic day's entertainment at the Ketton Sports and Community Centre.

Australian cricketer Mark Cosgrove and former All Blacks rugby player Craig Newby have been named in the Dean Headley XI alongside a host of former England cricketers for the T20.

They include Charlotte Edwards, a former captain of the England women's team; and former England men's cricketers Geraint Jones, Chris Lewis, John Emburey, Usman Afzaal, Andy Caddick, Adam Hollyoak, Phil DeFreitas and Chris Read.

Local players representing the Lincs and Rutland XI include Brian Makwana of Market Overton Cricket Club; David Clarke, Peterborough Town CC; Tom Bentley, Uffington CC; Matt Bird, Ketton Sports CC; Josh Bentley of Bourne CC; Nick Green, the current Stamford School 1st team captain; Michael Jones of Burghley Park CC; Henry Stephenson of Empingham CC; Richard Field, Stamford Town CC; Mark Owen, Oakham Town CC; and Jamie Dunford, Uppingham CC.

Tickets purchased at the gate cost £15 but anyone booking online up until midnight today (Thursday) will qualify for a £5 discount.

In addition to the T20, a BGL Kwik Cricket Cup involving 16 under nine teams teams will also be held.

"The support from BGL to put this on for the local community and get behind grassroots development of the game is fantastic and really important," said Dean.

Local clubs which have entered teams include Market Overton, Spalding, Stamford, Bourne, Nassington, Uffington, Burghley, Market Deeping, Oakham, Uppingham and Barnack.

Activities on the day include a parachuting display, face painting, gladiator challenge, human demolition and Batfast Cricket Simulator, to test your striking skills.
