Following a firefighter recruitment campaign last year, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service has announced plans to recruit a further 15 full time firefighters to satisfy future demands in its workforce.

"Whether you have aspirations of being a firefighter, or you’re looking to change career, this is the ideal opportunity to make a real difference in your community," the service said in a release.

In an effort to reflect diverse communities in its workforce, the service is appealing to people living in the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area who think they would make a great addition to the service.

It is specifically interested in attracting women, those who are from a black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds, those who identify as LGBT+ or those who have certain disabilities such as dyslexia or dyspraxia to consider a career with the service.

A number of taster events are being planned for anyone to have a go and find out more.

Details of these events will be announced on the service's website and social media channels in the coming weeks.

Anyone interested in applying is asked to not call the service directly at this stage.
