Revised plans for 75 new homes in Uppingham have been submitted to Rutland County Council.

Bloor Homes has made a number of amendments to plans for its proposed development off Leicester Road in response to feedback from a design review

The developer submitted a full planning application for the scheme, located to the west of the town centre, in March.

The changes to the application include an increase in the amount of open space being provided and a new mix of house types to reflect the character of the local area.

The layout of the development has also been altered to ensure more properties are facing areas of open space and to enable frontage access to an additional number of properties in Leicester Road.

According to Bloor Homes, the development will help meet Rutland County Council’s current need for housing on a site identified as suitable for new housing in Uppingham’s Neighbourhood Plan.

The scheme will be a self-contained development with a range of house types including detached, semi-detached and terraced homes, as well as maisonettes and semi-detached bungalows.

A total of 23 properties will be provided as affordable housing for rent and shared ownership.

Max Whitehead, strategic planning manager for Bloor Homes, said: “We are grateful to the design review panel for its feedback and we have made a number of alterations to our proposals in response to its comments.

“The public open spaces have been split up to create eight separate character areas inspired by the architecture and built form of

“These clusters of homes have been individually designed from a selection of our different house types to create a variety of house styles, materials, colours and window and door

“We are confident these changes will enable us to deliver a development which provides much-needed new housing for Uppingham and also blends in sympathetically with its surroundings.”
