The High Sherriff of Rutland’s Service in Celebration of Voluntary Work in the county took place at All Saints’ Church in Oakham on Monday.

The Bishop of Peterborough, the Rt Rev Donald Allister, was present at the event along with 400 other guests.

High Sheriff Sue Jarron’s three charities - Rutland Friends of Cancer Research UK, Warning Zone and Rotaract - were represented in the service with a collection followed by drinks.

On Tuesday Sue joined the Rutland Friends of Cancer Research UK at their annual Cancer Research speaker lunch at Greetham Valley where Dr Mark Openshaw from the Cancer Centre of Excellence at Leicester University talked about his DNA liquid biopsy cancer research field.
