Two political groups are formed on Rutland County Council

Two political groups have been formed on Rutland County Council in the wake of the elections.

Five Independent councillors have formed a political group, while 17 Conservative councillors announced their intention to form a group last 

Chief executive of Rutland County Council Helen Briggs said: “I have now received notice from two separate sets of councillors to confirm that they wish to form political groups.

“The formation of political groups does not alter councillors’ commitments and members of both groups still represent the wards they were elected to.

“If residents have any local issues to raise they should still contact their councillor, who will assist in whatever way they 

The members of the Conservative group, led by Roger Begy, are: Edward Baines, Roger Begy, Kenneth Bool, Rachel Burkitt, Richard Clifton, Gary Conde, William Cross, Richard Foster, Oliver Hemsely, Terry King (deputy leader of group), James Lammie, Diana MacDuff, Alastair Mann, Tony Mathias, Lucy Stephenson, Andrew Stewart and David 

The Independent group consists of five councillors, led by Alan Walters, are: Oliver Bird, Ben Callaghan, Marc Oxley, Chris Parsons and Alan Walters.
