Bourne Town completed the double over Irchester United on Saturday with a 4-2 win at the Abbey Lawn to move into the top five of the UCL Division One.
Bourne keeper Alex Brown made good saves from Romans pair Raph Brown and Sam Dengel in the first half.
And at the other end of the pitch club top scorer Zak Munton’s 36th minute stooping header from a Jack Corby cross had the Wakes in front at half time.
Ten minutes after the break Jack Humphries doubled the lead for the Wakes, rounding off good work by Jack Bottreill and Sam Wilson to score
But Kris Line hauled Irchester back into the game a minute later, curling in a 20 yard free kick from the left.
The two goal margin was restored by Aaron Jesson two minutes past the hour mark, the defender volleying in after Humphrey’s knocked down a Wilson free kick.
Line hit a second goal for the visiting side, scoring with a dipping effort from distance after 75 minutes, which kept Irchester in the hunt.
However their hopes of getting anything from the game were ended by a fourth Wakes goal from Dan Schiavi two minutes later, the substitute converting a Dan Smith pass.
Bourne travel to Olney Town tomorrow.
Irchester United Reserves got the better of the Bourne Town Reserves side beating them 2-1 despite the visitors being on top for most of the match.
Bourne really should have won the match, creating multiple chances to go ahead, including getting the ball over the line through Dan Mason only to have it notched off by some poor officiating.
Ian Goode scored for the Wakes second string but efforts from Ashlee Adebayo and Perry Smith condemned them to a loss, conceding a second goal with just two minutes of regular time remaining.
