Bourne’s Jason Burill continued his run of good form when competing in the Belper 25 near Uttoxeter.
Brett Harwood, Peterborough Cycling Club’s second claim member, riding for Terry Wright Cycles, was placed fourth in an amazing time of 49:01 but Burrill claimed a new amateur club record finishing 40th out of 120 starters in an impressive 52:47.
The club record has stood since 1982. Incredible times now are being recorded as bicycle technology and scientific based training methods march on.
Bourne-based professional Steve Lampier, riding for Raleigh GAC ,scored a fourth place in the hotly contested Stafford Kermesse midweek just days after his National epic.
On Thursday evening Ian Wild placed 12th in the Rockingham Speedway with Steve Noel and Dale Bowden finishing in the main bunch. The same night James Gelsthorpe stormed around Helpston to win the Summer League 10. Gelsthorpe finished in 22:23 at an average speed of 26.83 mph.
Second in 23:10 was Dave Sargent and Jason Burrill claimed another podium finish in third in a time of 23:11, averaging 25.90 mph.
