Market Overton 1st team wrapped up a pair of wins at the weekend, beating Countesthorpe 2nds by three wickets in the Leicestershire League Division Four East before recording a mammoth win in the Rutland League the next day.
The Saturday win did not come easy. Countesthorpe set a total of 202-7 and Marko looked off the pace trying to chase down the total. But a spectacular 24 runs from Brian Makwana off just the 44th over alone got them into touching distance of victory and the Rutland club wrapped it up in the final over, finishing on 206-7.
The margin of victory the next day in the Rutland League Division Five could not have been more different - beating Market Deeping 2nds by a staggering 197 runs.
Star of the day was 16-year-old Ben Watkin who scored his maiden century for the club, finishing on 100 exactly as Marko raced to 252-6, even with normal bit hitting Ryan Thwaites out for just two.
Adam Clarke added 79 to the Market Overton total as well.
Top scorer for Market Deeping 2nds in their reply were extras, with not a single player getting into double figures as the whole side were out for 55 in the 20th over.
Clarke took 3-18, Ryan Thwaites 2-2, Chris Minckley an unbelievable 2-1 and Bailey 2-28.
Rather unsurprisingly Marko are top of both Division Five in the Rutland League and Division Four East of the Leicestershire League.
