The inaugural Tallington Lakes Triathlon was won by athletes from the Peterborough Triathlon Club (PACTRAC)
The club did the double on Sunday with seasoned campaigner Simon Hoppe storming to victory in the Sprint Triathlon while his young PACTRAC clubmate Nathan Tweedie won the Standard Triathlon.
Hoppe, now running in the 45-49 year age group, completed the 750m swim, 24k bike ride and 5k run in 1:14:37. Runner-up was Nathan Scott (35-39 age group) in 1:16:17 with Antony Brown (55-59 age group) from PACTRAC third in 1:16:36.
Beth Wilmot was leading lady in 15th place in 1:25:00.
Tweedie, an Under-20 age group competitor, won the Standard Triathlon over the Olympic distance of 1500m swim, 46k bike and 10k run in 2:09:59. He pipped Ross Murphy (65-69 age group) while Wayne Stainsby (35-39 age group) from PACTRAC was third in 2:23;35.
First female finisher was Maggie Skinner, who was eighth overall in 2:27:05.
There were 62 finishers in the Standard Triathlon and 99 in the Sprint Triathlon.
