Harry Potter actor James Phelps is the latest star to join the BGL Sport Bash cricket lineup.
James, who played Fred Weasley in the blockbuster films, will join the other members of the Matt Hampson All-Star team as they face a Help For Heroes XI
The match is part of a two-day sporting spectacular at Stamford School playing fields on July 23 and 24.
The event, organised by former England bowler and current Stamford Endowed Schools coach Dean Headley, is now in its fourth year. Last year it raised more than £30,000, which was split between Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and the Seb Goold Trust, via the Matt Hampson Foundation.
Dean said: “I am delighted to see the array of stars that are supporting with the likes of Colin Salmon, Dom Joly and the international sport superstars. It will give adults and children alike to meet people they wouldn’t normally get to see. The day is always entertaining and this year looks like an extra special affair.”
This year the event will support Matt Hampson Foundation, Seb Goold Trust, PCA Benevolent Fund and Help for Heroes.
Dean has already secured financial help from a number of local businesses, including BGL Group in Peterborough, which has signed up to be the main sponsor. PS Financials is sponsoring the matches on both days.
And the lineups for the two matches are also filling up. On the Thursday the Matt Hampson all-star team will play a Help for Heroes XI. And on the Friday an England masters team featuring legends such as Mark Ramprakash, Matthew Hoggard and Adam Hollioake will take on a local legends XI.
